Ingredients

Cooking Instructions

Preparation Time: 20 minutes | Cooking Time: 40-50 minutes | Servings: 5-7 persons

  1. Marinate
    • Marinate 500g of mutton with 1 cup (200ml) of beaten yogurt and 1 packet of National Mutton Biryani Recipe Mix for 1 hour.
  2. Fry
    • Fry 4 medium onions (320g) thinly sliced in 1 cup (200ml) of oil/ghee until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. Cook
    • Add 1 tablespoon each of ginger and garlic pastes, 4 medium thinly sliced tomatoes (320g), and the marinated meat. Cook until oil rises to the top. Add 6-8 whole green chillies and water, then cook covered until the gravy thickens and the meat is tender. Add lemon juice at the end.
  4. Boil
    • In a separate pot, boil 3 cups (500g) of National Basmati Rice in 12 cups of water with 2 tablespoons of salt. Drain when the rice is half-cooked.
  5. Layer
    • In another pan, layer the half-cooked rice with the mutton curry. Sprinkle with 1 pinch of yellow food color (mixed in 4 tablespoons of water), ½ bunch of chopped coriander, and 2-3 tablespoons of chopped mint leaves.
  6. Simmer
    • Cover and simmer on low flame for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Serve
    • Serve the delicious Mutton Biryani hot with raita and salad.
